Healthy Pizza Chili

Pizza chili-- all the flavors of pizza and chili in one hearty, comforting bowl! This easy main dish comes together quickly enough for a weeknight meal, or you can make it in the slow cooker and let it simmer all day. Packed with nutrition, this healthy chili recipe is even better as leftovers the next day.

Equipment

  • 1 soup pot or slow cooker

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs ground beef or other ground meat
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, seeded and chopped any color
  • 1 jalapeƱo, seeded and chopped
  • 5-10 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 C cooked beans of choice about 3 cans
  • 1 jar pasta sauce
  • 1 T chili powder
  • 1 T Italian seasoning
  • 1 package pepperoni, sliced
  • water or broth as needed

Instructions
 

  • Brown ground beef in soup pot, breaking up into crumbly bits.
  • Add chopped onions and peppers to pot; cook to soften for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add beans, pasta sauce, and seasonings. Simmer 15-20 minutes, until everything is tender. Stir in pepperoni.
  • Add salt and water or broth as needed. Adjust seasonings to taste and serve.
